👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 Family Expectations

Building a strong school community is a top priority at CMCS. To ensure an inclusive “Community” environment, we strongly encourage all Community families to participate and be actively engaged with our school!  We ask all families to commit to being involved in our school.

This includes:

  • reading Principal’s weekly blog and monthly newsletter

  • attending all Town Hall and CFF Member meetings,

  • attending Principal’s Tea Time (once a month)

  • attending school events, and volunteering 35 hours to help support our school.

Click to learn more about what we'd love to see from our parents here at CMCS and confirm that your family agrees with these expectations.

📝 Volunteer Form

There are many ways you can volunteer. Join a committee, serve on Community Council, become a room parent. Select an area that strikes your fancy and we'll connect you with the parents that you need to talk to.

Please provide us some information about your family's interests & talents and the time you are available to help out. Please fill out this form! You will be contacted about how you can help. There is something to fit everyone's time & talents. Thank you for your support!

⏱ Log Your Hours

Every little bit helps and we appreciate it! Please help us keep track of all the great work you're putting in and fill out the form below so you can help us keep track of your Volunteer Hours! Thank you!

🚨 DISTRICT VOLUNTEER GUIDELINES

Parent involvement is one of the factors that allow Community to provide our students with such a wonderful learning environment.

We greatly appreciate all of our volunteers who provide assistance during the school day and those that provide support at home after hours. As of July 1, 2016, LAUSD updated the district’s volunteer policy which now requires annual approval and processing by the school site. Information about school volunteers can be found at https://achieve.lausd.net/Page/10443.

There are different types of school volunteers and the requirements vary. Please click here LAUSD VOLUNTEER TIERS.docx to determine if you are a Tier I Volunteer (single event volunteer), a Tier II Volunteer (Room Parent, field trip chaperone, etc.), or a Tier III Volunteer (overnight field trip chaperone).

All school volunteers will need to complete the on-line volunteer application on the LAUSD website (https://volunteerapp.lausd.net).   Please follow the directions provided on the website and deliver a copy of the application, the Volunteer Commitment Form, required for all volunteers. Tier II and Tier III volunteers must also deliver TB results clearance to our main office.  TB clearance can be provided by a physician by a skin test or if you’re not a TB risk (please check TB risk assessment) then simply have your doctor sign the attached certificate. If you were a district approved volunteer last year, your TB results are valid for 4 years. If you were fingerprinted last year (Tier III volunteers), you do not need to update that as long as you do not have a two-year lapse in renewing your yearly Volunteer Application and Volunteer Commitment form.

Once the applications have been reviewed and approved at the school site, the application will be forwarded to the district’s volunteer office for final approval. Our school staff will contact applicants when district approval is received.

If you have questions about volunteering or the volunteer application process, please contact Kathryn Michaels at 310-476-2281.
