COMMUNITY FAMILIES & FRIENDS (CFF)

What is CFF?

Community Families & Friends, more commonly called CFF, is the Community School Parents Association (CSPA), of which all parents and staff are members. CSPA/CFF is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) parent volunteer led organization whose membership includes all parents and legal guardians of enrolled students at Community Magnet Charter School, as well as all staff at the school.

Our Mission

Our mission is to raise and disperse funds to enhance and enrich the curriculum and quality of the educational experience of all students attending Community Magnet Charter School.

We strive to support the mission of Community Magnet Charter School in a safe and friendly environment. We also strive to establish a close relationship between home and school by advancing the opportunity for all parents to become involved. CFF supports school and family social interaction and provides a non-biased forum for sharing information on issues that influence our children.

Vision

To ensure the students of Community Magnet Charter School receive the highest-quality education and enrichment experiences in a safe and nurturing environment through fundraising and volunteer efforts of parents and the community.

Objective

Develop and execute an action plan that fills the school’s fiscal gap through fundraising and volunteerism.

Our Goals

  • Raise money for the school through various fundraisers to fill the gap left by a shortage of district funding

  • Promote volunteerism among our parent body.  Enlist parent volunteers to lead, organize, and support CFF events and committees as well as assist in classrooms and around the school.

  • Provide positive environment to discuss school matters that affect our kids

Our Story

Community School Parents Association (CSPA) has existed since parents developed the Community School back in the 1970s. To this day, we still operate under the Town Hall structure that was used when the school was first opened.

More than a decade ago, our school faced the challenge of declining enrollment and stagnant academic growth and was in dire condition. A small group of determined parents decided to band together and help turn the school around.  From that moment on, CSPA has been involved in not only raising funds to help support school programs and curriculum, but also volunteering efforts to support the school.

In June 2011, parents voted to change our name to Community Families & Friends (CFF) and to re-structure the organization, but our mission and focus remained unchanged. Each year we raise well over $300,000 to help fill the gap created by dwindling governmental funds and we continue to have an extremely involved parent body. Funds raised by CFF and our active, committed parents are two of the key ingredients in our school’s success.
